Department of Computer Science and Business System in association with Institution’s Innovation Council at CEC an insightful session on "Entrepreneurial Leadership" on February 21, 2024, Mr. Deepak Raj, Zone Trainer - JCI India, was the resource person for the event. Dr. Nagesh H. R., Principal of Canara Engineering College, addressed the students and emphasized the significance of leadership in academics as well as an entrepreneur. The programme was chaired by Dr. H. Manoj T. Gadiyar, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science and Business System. Throughout the session, students received insights into the Fundamental difference on the role of Leader/Manager and Entrepreneur ,Qualities to be entitled for an Entrepreneur, Decision Quality, Types of Leadership, Risk Factors for a Entrepreneur ,steps to generate super ideas, Conflict management, Closing with 3Cs - Curiosity, Creation of Value and Connections The interactive session culminated with an activity. A total of 100 students from the department of CSBS participated in the event. Ms. Yojana KiranKumar, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CSBS, coordinated the event.

The Library and Information Centre & NDLI Club at Canara Engineering College organized a One-Day Faculty Development Program on "IEEE Remote Access & New Features" on February 20, 2024. Mr. M. S. Srinivasa, IEEE Training Manager, South India, was the resource person for the FDP. Dr. Nagesh H. R., Principal of Canara Engineering College, addressed the participants in the beginning of FDP and emphasized the significance of research in the teaching career. Throughout the session, faculty members received insights into the new features of IEEE, encompassing remote access options, paper downloads, and accessing the most cited papers. Mr. M S Srinivasa, IEEE Training Manager, South India, served as the resource person for the event. The program was organized exclusively for all 5th semester students of CSE department. During the session, students received information about the new features of IEEE, including remote access option, downloading popular papers, and viewing the most cited papers. The interactive session involved student activities where participants had to propose solutions for problems identified in research articles of their choice, sourced from the IEEE website. A total of 42 from CSD,18 students from ECE and 7 from CSBS department participated in the program. Mrs. Yashaswini K.L, Assistant Professor in the Dept. of CSBS served as the convener for the event.

The Department of Computer Science and Business System in association with Institution’s Innovation council conducted an insightful session on “Achieving Problem-Solution Fit and Product-Market Fit – Part 2” on 14th February 2024. Dr. Venkatesh Nagaraja, Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering was the resource person for the event. The session consisted insights on importance of analysing the problem statement on the basis of 5 Ws, requirement of supporting evidence, identifying people affected by the problem, context impact, timeframe and worthiness of the problem. The event provided the students with a hands on experience on creating an Empathy Map for the problem identified. A total of 50 students from CSBS department participated in the event. The Department of Computer Science and Business System in association with Institution’s Innovation council conducted an insightful session on “Achieving Problem-Solution Fit and Product-Market Fit” on 31st January 2024. Dr. Venkatesh Nagaraja, Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering was the resource person for the event. Dr. Nagesh H R, Principal, Canara Engineering College addressed the students and shared his experience on importance of Product-Market fit. The program was chaired by Dr. H Manoj T Gadiyar, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science and Business System. The session consisted insights on identifying and understanding customers’ needs and pain points, importance of knowing the target customers, validating their problem, aligning customers’ needs with solution business offers through its products and services. At the end of session, team activity was conducted where each team came up with a problem statement. A total of 57 students from CSBS department participated in the event. The Department of Computer Science and Business System in association with Institution's Innovation Council organized a motivational session by a successful innovator and entrepreneur on December 6th, 2023. Mr. Prajwal V Kumar, Director and Co-founder of Mangalore Robautonics Pvt Ltd, was the resource person for the session. The main objective of this programme was to inspire and motivate students by showcasing the success stories of innovators and entrepreneurs, encourage them to pursue their ideas and take up entrepreneurship. Mr. Prajwal Kumar shared his journey of exploration and creation, motivated the students to embrace the spirit of innovation, transform the challenges into opportunities and push all the boundaries. The session highlighted stories of some of the greatest innovators like Elon Musk, the visionary behind companies like Tesla, SpaceX and snippets from the movie “October Sky” which depicted passion for scientific exploration and innovation. A total of 171 students participated in the event.

Branch Entry program for the students of third semester was held on 17th November 2023. The event was organized by cultural committee lead by Mr. Naveen Kalal, Chief Coordinator. Dr. Nagesh H R, The Principal and Dr. Demian Antony D Mello, The Vice Principal addressed the incoming students. Dr. Manoj T Gadiyar, HOD CSBS and the Heads of various other departments graced the occasion. Students of third semester gave variety performances on the theme - "Retro - NewAge Fusion: A Cinematic Blend". The event was coordinated by Mrs. Pooja Kini, CSBS Department Cultural Coordinator.

Ayudha Pooja was conducted at the Department of Computer Science and Business System on 31st of October, 2023. Cultural department organized the event. Students, faculty and staff actively participated in the event. The Pooja was lead by Dr Manoj T Gadiyar, HOD, CSBS and was graced by Dr. Nagesh H R, Principal, CEC. Prasadam was distributed after the pooja. Mrs. Pooja Kini, Department Cultural Coordinator, coordinated the event.

Objectives: Enable the students to develop GUI using Python Tkinter. Benefits in terms of learning: At the end able to develop several partly-functional applications. Able develop layouts by using different geometry managers. Styling widgets by using styling options and configuring the root widget. Report: Topics discussed were the advantages and applications of the Python Programming Language, the creation of buttons, frames, and canvas, developing calculator applications, and developing an image viewer. A Python Bootcamp work shop was conducted for the Second year Computer Science and Business System Branch on December 31, 2022. Over 60 students participated in the event and got an overview of the Python Programming language and learnt the basics of the language. They solved a few python programming problems and also solved a leet code problem. The students were enthusiastic and cheerful and very responsive.

The Department of Central Library and Information Center conducted “Optimal usage of VTU E-Learning Resources” on 02/12/2022 for second year students of Computer Science and Business System. Mrs. Supriya A V, Assistant Professor, Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, spoke about the facilities available at the college central library, benefits of VTU e-resource usage during research, paper publication and project report preparation. The students were shown a demonstration of a remote access solution that is specifically designed for effective access of digital content subscribed by VTU Consortium such as e- journals, e-books, articles from various publishers Springer Nature , Taylor and Francis, Elsevier /Science Direct, IEEE POP, Emerald, McGraw Hill and Turnitin Online Plagiarism Check Tool, Lanquill(Sententia) Netanalytiks Grammar Tool.

Computer Science and Business System branch entry program was conducted by department cultural committee on 24th November 2022. Mrs. Pooja Kini, faculty at department of Computer Science and Business System welcomed the second year students. Invocation was done by Ms.Varsha from second year. Mr. Vinay P, Head of the department of Computer Science and Business System addressed the second year students and spoke about the uniqueness and advantages of Computer Science and Business System specialization in current IT industry. Mr. Himanshu and Ms. Priyanka Bharadwaj from second year expressed their aspirations for the next three years in the department. Mrs. Aishwarya K, faculty at department of Computer Science and Business System proposed the vote of thanks.The function concluded with best wishes from faculty members to the new batch.
